Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Software & Computers and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BRU:KBC), which rose 0.66% or 0.380 points to trade at 57.920 at the close. D'Ieteren (D) (BRU:IETB) added 0.44% or 0.150 points to end at 34.595 and Bekaert (D) (BRU:BEKB) was up 0.02% or 0.01 points to 26.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB), which lost 6.79% or 7.46 points to trade at 102.30 in late trade. Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) declined 1.74% or 1.130 points to end at 63.810 and Elia (BRU:ELI) shed 1.72% or 0.700 points to 40.105.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 110 to 55 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.12% or 13.50 to $1189.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.28% or 0.16 to hit $56.45 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.31% or 0.81 to trade at $62.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.0722, while EUR/GBP fell 0.74% to 0.7138.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 98.28.
