Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Iberdrola (MC:IBE), which rose 0.73% or 0.043 points to trade at 5.929 at the close. Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) added 0.42% or 0.080 points to end at 19.135 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) was up 0.17% or 0.035 points to 20.895 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bankia (MC:BKIA), which lost 3.46% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.726 in late trade. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 2.61% or 0.030 points to end at 1.120 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) shed 2.27% or 0.114 points to 4.911.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 143 to 52 and 21 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.47% or 6.15 to $1311.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.16% or 0.95 to hit $42.96 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 0.78 to trade at $45.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8535.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.78% at 96.02.
