Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Oil & Gas and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 4.35% or 1.00 points to trade at 24.00 at the close. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) added 2.72% or 0.42 points to end at 15.87 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 1.38% or 0.09 points to 6.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 9.20% or 0.08 points to trade at 0.79 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 7.96% or 0.160 points to end at 1.850 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) shed 5.03% or 3.20 points to 60.42.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 29 to 17 and 52 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.28% or 0.58 to $44.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.13% or 0.53 to hit $46.23 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1358.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.20% to 312.370, while USD/NGN rose 0.36% to 282.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 96.66.
