Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 2.93% or 0.86 points to trade at 30.24 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 0.27% or 0.13 points to end at 48.76 and DIeteren SA (BR:IETB) was up 0.16% or 0.050 points to 30.810 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which lost 5.64% or 0.30 points to trade at 4.95 in late trade. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) declined 4.64% or 4.63 points to end at 95.09 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 3.35% or 1.395 points to 40.260.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 133 to 23 and 4 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.33% or 14.50 to $1106.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.65% or 0.56 to hit $33.41 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.33 to trade at $33.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.84% to 1.0870, while EUR/GBP rose 1.28% to 0.7462.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.53% at 98.75.
