Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 1.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 3.37% or 1.27 points to trade at 38.99 at the close. LSR (MCX:LSRG) added 2.31% or 14.0 points to end at 620.0 and E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) was up 1.34% or 0.0410 points to 3.1100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which lost 3.48% or 18.20 points to trade at 505.10 in late trade. Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) declined 3.25% or 88.7 points to end at 2639.5 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) shed 3.15% or 24.0 points to 739.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 119 to 67 and 8 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.45% to 38.080.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.21% or 14.50 to $1188.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.16% or 0.09 to hit $56.70 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 1.08 to trade at $63.16 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 2.50% to 52.254, while EUR/RUB fell 2.53% to 56.092.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.00% at 98.21.
