Investment Strategy

The sub-Fund aims to outperform (after deduction of costs) the MSCI AC Asia ex Japan Index, as stated in Sterling, by at least 2% per annum over rolling five-year periods. The sub-Fund will invest at least 90% directly or indirectly in shares of companies in Asia (excluding Japan) and Australasia, being those which are listed, incorporated, domiciled or conducting a significant portion of their business in Asia (excluding Japan) and Australasia. The sub-Fund will be actively managed and will invest in companies of any size and in any sector. The indirect investment will be through collective investment schemes.

Biography Mr. Faraday is a Client Service Director where he is responsible for servicing International All Cap Clients. He has been a member of the International All Cap Portfolio Construction Group since 2007. Mr. Faraday joined Baillie Gifford's Graduate Scheme in 2002 and worked in the Manager's European, North America, Developed Asian and Emerging Markets Equity Teams before transferring to the Clients Department in 2013. Following an engineering scholarship with the Smallpeice Trust in his gap year, Mr. Faraday graduated MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2002 and gained an MBA from the University of Edinburgh in 2009. He is also a CFA Charterholder. Mr. Faraday has been a member of the team since 2007.

Biography Craig Collins is an Investment Manager and a Founding Partner of Kiltearn. Craig graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Chemical Physics from Glasgow University and went on to gain his Ph.D. at Robinson College, Cambridge. Prior to joining Kiltearn, Craig was employed at Baillie Gifford & Co. for over 11 years, where he worked as an Investment Manager and Analyst in its Long Term Global Growth, Emerging Markets and North American equity departments and latterly as a Global Technology Analyst. Biography Mike Gush joined Baillie Gifford in 2003 and became a Partner of Baillie Gifford & Co in 2020. He first worked in the U.K. and Japanese Equities Teams before moving to the Emerging Markets Equity Team in 2005. Mr. Gush is a named manager for Baillie Gifford's emerging markets and China funds, as well as being responsible for the Emerging Markets Small Cap Strategy. He has also been involved with the Global Stewardship Strategy since its inception in 2015. He became a portfolio manager in 2006 and has researched all Emerging Markets during his career. Mr. Gush also has previous experience managing the Pacific Horizon Investment Trust and Baillie Gifford Pacific Fund. He is a CFA Charterholder and graduated MEng from the University of Durham in 2003. Mr. Gush has been a member of the team of portfolio managers in 2021.

Biography Born 1962. Graduated MA in Philosophy from St. Andrews University (including University of California, Berkeley in 1982/83) and B.Phil in Philosophy from Brasenose College, Oxford. He joined Baillie Gifford in 1987 and became a Partner in 1998. He is currently Head of the Emerging Markets Investment Team and is a member of both the Investment Policy Committee and the Emerging Markets Investment Policy Committee.
