Online traders rely exclusively on price action and the formations and trends extrapolated to make trading decisions. Technical analysis as a practice is a derivative of price action since it uses past prices in calculations that can then be used to inform trading decisions. Most technical indicators are used only as a secondary filter system or an interpreter when we cannot understand the price.

A price action analysis is an act of studying, reading, and interpreting a market's price movement over time, which involves using raw price charts to trade the market (no indicators). By learning to read the price action, we can determine a market's directional bias and trade from reoccurring price action patterns or price action setups that reflect changes or continuations in market sentiment.
