Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 declined 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS), which rose 2.30% or 0.53 points to trade at 23.58 at the close. Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) added 2.27% or 1.34 points to end at 60.50 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) was up 1.94% or 1.79 points to 93.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW), which lost 5.65% or 4.85 points to trade at 81.00 in late trade. ING Bank Śląski SA (WA:INGP) declined 5.40% or 6.45 points to end at 113.05 and CCC SA (WA:CCCP) shed 3.67% or 5.50 points to 144.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 287 to 229 and 167 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 4.93% or 1.77 to $37.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 5.02% or 1.90 to hit $39.77 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.50 to trade at $1227.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.05% to 4.2662, while USD/PLN fell 0.37% to 3.7353.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 94.33.
