Investing.com – Philippines equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Services and Holding Firms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Emperador Inc (PS:EMP), which rose 2.07% or 0.160 points to trade at 7.880 at the close. Aboitiz Power Corp (PS:AP) added 1.67% or 0.65 points to end at 39.55 and Globe Telecom Inc (PS:GLO) was up 1.46% or 30.00 points to 2080.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Megaworld Corp (PS:MEG), which lost 1.09% or 0.050 points to trade at 4.550 in late trade. Alliance Global Group Inc (PS:AGI) declined 0.98% or 0.140 points to end at 14.180 and Security Bank Corp (PS:SECB) shed 0.81% or 1.80 points to 219.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 114 to 86 and 44 ended unchanged on the Philippines Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.18% or 2.25 to $1221.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $47.05 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.05 to trade at $49.66 a barrel.
CNY/PHP was up 0.16% to 7.4457, while USD/PHP rose 0.16% to 50.620.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 96.03.
