France shares lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.08%

Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Industrials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.08%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.11%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 2.74% or 1.76 points to trade at 65.98 at the close. Technip (PA:TECF) added 2.47% or 1.25 points to end at 51.92 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 1.79% or 0.090 points to 5.110 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Airbus Group (PA:AIR), which lost 1.72% or 0.91 points to trade at 52.01 in late trade. Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) declined 1.29% or 1.07 points to end at 81.58 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) shed 0.85% or 0.15 points to 17.98.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 10.10% to 3.577, CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was up 9.21% to settle at 22.4100 and Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which gained 8.17% to close at 32.090.

The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 5.73% to 36.110 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which lost 4.11% to settle at 5.340 and Groupe Eurotunnel (PA:GETP) which was down 3.32% to 9.359 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 328 to 308 and 122 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.00% to 18.09 a new 6-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.90% or 11.85 to $1331.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.84% or 0.84 to hit $44.91 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 0.79 to trade at $46.38 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1010, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8337.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 97.03.
