Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 2.42% or 0.130 points to trade at 5.490 at the close. ACS Const. (MC:ACS) added 0.71% or 0.190 points to end at 26.885 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) was up 0.26% or 0.030 points to 11.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B. Sabadell (MC:SABE), which lost 4.15% or 0.049 points to trade at 1.133 in late trade. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) declined 3.75% or 0.088 points to end at 2.258 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) shed 3.26% or 0.214 points to 6.346.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 150 to 46 and 22 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.16% or 2.15 to $1342.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.52% or 1.63 to hit $44.69 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.15% or 1.50 to trade at $46.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1230, while EUR/GBP rose 1.00% to 0.8660.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.37.
