Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Food and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.41% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which rose 9.80% or 0.0250 points to trade at 0.2800 at the close. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) added 4.99% or 0.2200 points to end at 4.6400 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 4.20% or 0.010 points to 0.248 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Halcor (AT:XAKO), which lost 6.46% or 0.051 points to trade at 0.739 in late trade. J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) declined 4.92% or 0.035 points to end at 0.676 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) shed 3.88% or 0.040 points to 0.990.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 59 to 52 and 9 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.54% or 6.61 to $1221.31 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.67% or 0.30 to hit $45.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.15% or 0.07 to trade at $47.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.1424, while EUR/GBP fell 0.66% to 0.8867.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 95.52.
