Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemicals, Banking and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 19.53% or 0.025 points to trade at 0.156 at the close. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) added 11.04% or 0.0180 points to end at 0.1810 and Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) was up 8.41% or 0.009 points to 0.116 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr), which lost 9.72% or 0.2800 points to trade at 2.6000 in late trade. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 5.15% or 0.026 points to end at 0.479 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) shed 5.07% or 0.035 points to 0.655.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 52 to 44 and 14 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.03% or 13.85 to $1329.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.92% or 0.86 to hit $45.61 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.08% or 0.96 to trade at $47.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1106, while EUR/GBP fell 1.35% to 0.8330.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 96.19.
