Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Cement sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jenn Feng (TW:1538), which rose 9.98% or 0.56 points to trade at 6.17 at the close. Dfi (TW:2397) added 9.96% or 5.20 points to end at 57.40 and Epileds Tech (TW:4956) was up 9.95% or 1.90 points to 21.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which lost 9.09% or 1.05 points to trade at 10.50 in late trade. Airmate (TW:1626) declined 7.13% or 2.05 points to end at 26.70 and Via Tech (TW:2388) shed 5.56% or 0.65 points to 11.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 385 to 362 and 105 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.57% or 0.75 to $46.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.42% or 0.71 to hit $49.44 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.40% or 5.25 to trade at $1320.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.18% to 31.817, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2088.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 95.56.
