Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Investment Trust, Healthcare and Footwear & Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.45% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD), which rose 16.04% or 207.00 points to trade at 1497.90 at the close. Lanka Cement PLC (CM:LCEM) added 12.31% or 0.80 points to end at 7.30 and Hotel Sigiriya PLC (CM:HSIG) was up 10.67% or 10.40 points to 107.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which lost 24.39% or 554.90 points to trade at 1720.10 in late trade. Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) declined 19.76% or 418.70 points to end at 1700.10 and Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) shed 10.71% or 2.40 points to 20.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 131 to 50 and 55 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.88% or 0.83 to $44.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 2.06% or 0.94 to hit $46.52 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.28% or 3.50 to trade at $1246.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.05% to 213.225, while USD/LKR fell 0.12% to 146.315.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 94.35.
