Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 1.98% or 0.95 points to trade at 49.27 at the close. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) fell 0.15% or 0.004 points to end at 2.679 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) was down 0.17% or 0.35 points to 210.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 2.62% or 0.53 points to trade at 19.53 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 2.25% or 0.44 points to end at 19.14 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) shed 1.83% or 0.51 points to 27.09.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 132 to 42 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 9.30% to 19.81.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 2.37% or 1.09 to $47.15 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.11% or 1.02 to hit $49.26 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.77% or 9.10 to trade at $1187.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.0581, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.8529.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 101.48.
