Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Repsol (MC:REP), which rose 3.00% or 0.370 points to trade at 12.685 at the close. Abertis Infr (MC:ABE) added 2.96% or 0.395 points to end at 13.760 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 2.88% or 0.163 points to 5.829 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Caixabank SA (MC:CABK), which lost 1.30% or 0.031 points to trade at 2.354 in late trade. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) declined 0.98% or 0.100 points to end at 10.150 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (MC:ICAG) shed 0.74% or 0.030 points to 4.034.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 83 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.72% or 9.05 to $1260.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.67% or 1.33 to hit $51.14 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.16% or 1.12 to trade at $53.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.1150, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.9007.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 96.84.
