Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 5.24% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were TNT Express (AMS:TNTE), which fell 0.27% or 0.020 points to trade at 7.500 at the close. Gemalto (AMS:GTO) fell 1.79% or 1.30 points to end at 71.13 and Aalberts Industries (AMS:AALB) was down 2.61% or 0.72 points to 26.91 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which lost 9.48% or 0.70 points to trade at 6.67 in late trade. Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) declined 8.62% or 0.89 points to end at 9.47 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) shed 7.72% or 1.81 points to 21.64.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 216 to 6 and 2 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 42.92% to 39.73 a new 3-year high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 3.39% or 1.37 to $39.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 3.73% or 1.70 to hit $43.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.21% or 2.40 to trade at $1157.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.55% to 1.1561, while EUR/GBP rose 1.19% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.30% at 93.61.
