Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 3.62% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 8.61% or 58.80 points to trade at 742.00 at the close. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) added 3.87% or 270.00 points to end at 7,254.00 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) was up 1.88% or 29.50 points to 1,595.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq), which lost 99.00% or 0.99 points to trade at 0.01 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 8.38% or 150.00 points to end at 1,641.00 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) shed 7.74% or 252.00 points to 3,004.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1859 to 223 and 289 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.47% or 28.40 to $1,964.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 4.66% or 5.02 to hit $112.69 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 4.22% or 4.66 to trade at $115.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.82% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.35% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.77% at 98.54.
