Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Travel & Leisure and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 1.92% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq), which rose 1.54% or 0.17 points to trade at 10.91 at the close. Rosneft (LON:ROSNq) added 1.04% or 0.05 points to end at 4.97 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 0.86% or 9.00 points to 1055.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 5.99% or 6.40 points to trade at 100.45 in late trade. Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT) declined 5.43% or 16.60 points to end at 289.30 and Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) shed 5.32% or 7.15 points to 127.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1384 to 794 and 185 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.66% or 12.65 to $1928.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 4.20% or 1.75 to hit $39.95 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 3.59% or 1.55 to trade at $41.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.70% to 1.3164, while EUR/GBP fell 1.21% to 0.9020.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 92.520.
