Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which rose 3.54% or 91.00 points to trade at 2,661.00 at the close. Avast PLC (LON:AVST) added 2.49% or 12.60 points to end at 518.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.36% or 8.40 points to 364.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML), which lost 18.11% or 427.50 points to trade at 1,933.50 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 5.93% or 40.60 points to end at 644.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) shed 5.72% or 33.00 points to 544.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1360 to 432 and 433 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.77% or 30.75 to $1,704.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.67% or 1.61 to hit $94.69 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 1.57 to trade at $98.00 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.93% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.91% at 108.74.
