Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Oil & Gas Producers and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which rose 1.04% or 1.12 points to trade at 109.20 at the close. NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) added 0.87% or 1.00 points to end at 115.75 and Next PLC (LON:NXT) was up 0.81% or 48.0 points to 5950.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 8.44% or 29.10 points to trade at 315.60 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 6.55% or 40.00 points to end at 570.80 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 4.82% or 9.85 points to 194.55.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1423 to 727 and 164 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.36% or 26.75 to $1943.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.57% or 0.24 to hit $42.00 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.18 to trade at $44.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.27% to 1.3098, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.9046.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 93.015.
