Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 1.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 0.31% or 7.00 points to trade at 2,287.00 at the close. Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) added 0.21% or 6.00 points to end at 2,808.00 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) was up 0.21% or 0.50 points to 236.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND), which lost 5.32% or 17.80 points to trade at 316.70 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 4.20% or 66.50 points to end at 1,516.00 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) shed 3.38% or 6.55 points to 187.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1148 to 444 and 510 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 1.15 to $1,947.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.72% or 0.60 to hit $83.42 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.63 to trade at $87.03 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 102.70.
