Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG), which rose 3.37% or 145.0 points to trade at 4448.0 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 2.48% or 4.90 points to end at 202.20 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 2.17% or 53.00 points to 2500.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which lost 3.42% or 104.0 points to trade at 2933.0 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 3.32% or 2.08 points to end at 60.64 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 3.26% or 62.2 points to 1844.2.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1260 to 915 and 165 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.83% or 16.00 to $1923.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.76% or 0.75 to hit $43.37 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.53% or 0.70 to trade at $46.34 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.50% to 1.3128, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.9001.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.160.
