Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.11% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB), which rose 14.33% or 576.00 points to trade at 4596.00 at the close. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) added 3.81% or 5.45 points to end at 148.50 and Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) was up 1.81% or 20.50 points to 1150.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE), which lost 7.78% or 50.20 points to trade at 595.40 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 3.08% or 71.00 points to end at 2236.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 2.90% or 9.35 points to 313.55.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1229 to 701 and 385 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.20 to $1204.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.60% or 0.42 to hit $69.83 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.33 to trade at $77.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.47% to 1.2953, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8949.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 95.12.
