Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Household Goods & Home Construction and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.87% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 7.18% or 15.70 points to trade at 234.50 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 4.54% or 830.00 points to end at 19,125.00 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) was up 2.78% or 250.00 points to 9,258.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which lost 15.51% or 135.50 points to trade at 738.00 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 6.61% or 119.50 points to end at 1,689.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 4.96% or 20.60 points to 394.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1048 to 729 and 674 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.40% or 10.95 to $2,694.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.90% or 2.10 to hit $70.26 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.53% or 1.91 to trade at $73.72 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.70% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.66% at 105.06.
