Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.87% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 3.52% or 218.00 points to trade at 6416.00 at the close. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) added 3.14% or 10.70 points to end at 351.20 and Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) was up 2.27% or 145.00 points to 6530.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK), which lost 7.00% or 75.00 points to trade at 997.00 in late trade. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 4.55% or 10.95 points to end at 229.60 and Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) shed 4.10% or 14.90 points to 348.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1568 to 502 and 288 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.99% or 12.20 to $1241.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.18% or 0.12 to hit $67.45 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.39 to trade at $77.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.16% to 1.2837, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.8886.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 96.12.
