Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Industrial Engineering and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 4.56% or 345.00 points to trade at 7915.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.60% or 41.00 points to end at 1621.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 1.04% or 14.00 points to 1353.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which lost 4.91% or 7.90 points to trade at 153.00 in late trade. WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) declined 3.70% or 9.30 points to end at 242.10 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) shed 2.68% or 73.00 points to 2647.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1412 to 517 and 430 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.45% or 5.88 to $1321.18 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.42% or 0.66 to hit $45.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.18% or 0.09 to trade at $51.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.01% to 1.2934, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.9291.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 91.95.
