Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Tobacco and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 6.19% or 41.00 points to trade at 703.80 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 5.47% or 17.60 points to end at 339.50 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 5.33% or 9.52 points to 188.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 3.39% or 83.00 points to trade at 2367.00 in late trade. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) declined 3.05% or 43.50 points to end at 1384.50 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) shed 2.95% or 17.40 points to 573.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1399 to 654 and 396 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.28% or 4.95 to $1761.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.21% or 0.16 to hit $75.19 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.25 to trade at $78.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.69% to 1.3564, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.8550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 94.043.
