Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Electrical, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.69% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which rose 1.31% or 3.00 points to trade at 232.20 at the close. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) added 1.31% or 8.00 points to end at 620.00 and Merlin Entertainments PLC (LON:MERL) was up 1.16% or 4.40 points to 383.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL), which lost 6.54% or 151.00 points to trade at 2157.00 in late trade. Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) declined 3.17% or 6.70 points to end at 205.00 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) shed 2.44% or 34.00 points to 1360.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1141 to 797 and 411 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.85% or 11.00 to $1276.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.89% or 0.51 to hit $56.66 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.43 to trade at $63.50 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.44% to 1.3204, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8828.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 94.32.
