Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Banking and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq), which rose 6.18% or 0.082 points to trade at 1.408 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.38% or 27.80 points to end at 851.40 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) was up 2.85% or 3.45 points to 124.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP), which lost 5.03% or 110.00 points to trade at 2076.00 in late trade. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) declined 4.56% or 58.50 points to end at 1223.50 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 4.43% or 93.00 points to 2004.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1404 to 862 and 195 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.90% or 16.15 to $1775.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.92% or 1.24 to hit $65.73 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 1.32 to trade at $68.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.17% to 1.3885, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8655.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 91.260.
