Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Aerospace & Defense, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.59% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO), which rose 1.69% or 77.00 points to trade at 4,636.00 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 0.97% or 4.05 points to end at 423.55 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 0.91% or 20.00 points to 2,223.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 5.54% or 45.00 points to trade at 767.40 in late trade. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) declined 4.66% or 46.70 points to end at 955.80 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) shed 4.63% or 8.05 points to 165.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1144 to 470 and 491 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.65% or 12.45 to $1,915.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.37% or 1.09 to hit $80.47 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.03% or 0.86 to trade at $84.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 103.33.
