Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Industrial Engineering and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML), which rose 2.26% or 58.00 points to trade at 2,627.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 1.85% or 8.40 points to end at 463.60 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) was up 1.42% or 5.20 points to 370.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 7.07% or 22.10 points to trade at 290.40 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 4.46% or 45.40 points to end at 972.60 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) shed 4.14% or 10.00 points to 231.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1147 to 668 and 704 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.38% or 8.90 to $2,335.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.50% or 0.41 to hit $81.22 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.51 to trade at $84.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 105.35.
