Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Gas, Water & Multiutilities and Electrical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 1.35% or 15.00 points to trade at 1129.00 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 1.22% or 46.00 points to end at 3831.00 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 1.04% or 1.80 points to 174.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 6.93% or 69.500 points to trade at 933.500 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 3.91% or 15.50 points to end at 381.30 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) shed 3.64% or 61.00 points to 1614.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1367 to 988 and 442 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.88% or 11.15 to $1257.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.04% or 0.52 to hit $50.35 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.20% or 0.62 to trade at $52.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.68% to 1.2657, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8817.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 96.56.
