Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which rose 4.01% or 21.80 points to trade at 565.40 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 3.73% or 5.40 points to end at 150.00 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 2.66% or 8.10 points to 312.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 3.23% or 60.60 points to trade at 1812.60 in late trade. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) declined 3.11% or 18.00 points to end at 561.00 and The Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKGH) shed 2.76% or 119.00 points to 4186.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1033 to 977 and 305 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.12% or 1.50 to $1301.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.56% or 0.37 to hit $66.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $76.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.33% to 1.3424, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8782.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 93.51.
