Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Food & Drug Retailers, Automobiles & Parts and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 4.46% or 555.0 points to trade at 12985.0 at the close. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 4.21% or 51.00 points to end at 1263.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 3.53% or 63.00 points to 1849.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR), which lost 5.87% or 252.5 points to trade at 4050.5 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 4.32% or 130.0 points to end at 2881.0 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) shed 2.80% or 1.42 points to 49.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1302 to 897 and 209 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.21% or 3.75 to $1807.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.24% or 0.87 to hit $71.17 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.12% or 0.81 to trade at $73.04 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.23% to 1.3741, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.8563.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 92.898.
