Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Aerospace & Defense and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO), which rose 2.45% or 24.20 points to trade at 1011.00 at the close. SKY PLC (LON:SKYB) added 2.12% or 27.50 points to end at 1325.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 1.42% or 2.65 points to 189.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which lost 7.39% or 10.65 points to trade at 133.40 in late trade. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 4.59% or 27.60 points to end at 573.40 and GKN PLC (LON:GKN) shed 3.63% or 16.80 points to 446.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1170 to 785 and 161 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.78% or 10.50 to $1336.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.60% or 0.38 to hit $63.39 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.37 to trade at $68.01 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.14% to 1.4064, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.8719.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 89.86.
