Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Beverage sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS), which rose 12.12% or 29.30 points to trade at 271.10 at the close. Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) added 4.17% or 56.50 points to end at 1,410.00 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) was up 2.78% or 53.00 points to 1,959.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 4.68% or 24.60 points to trade at 501.40 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 2.87% or 3.20 points to end at 108.35 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) shed 2.68% or 1.90 points to 69.04.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1177 to 626 and 448 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.91% or 32.70 to $1,676.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.57% or 0.53 to hit $92.11 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.85% or 0.83 to trade at $97.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 113.16.
