Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.01% or 20.80 points to trade at 712.20 at the close. JSC VTB Bank DRC (LON:VTBRq) added 2.38% or 0.035 points to end at 1.505 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) was up 2.23% or 0.34 points to 15.83 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 2.86% or 19.00 points to trade at 645.60 in late trade. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) declined 2.78% or 55.00 points to end at 1924.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 2.71% or 12.65 points to 453.55.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1356 to 796 and 201 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.72% or 27.85 to $1648.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.80% or 0.43 to hit $53.45 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.47% or 0.87 to trade at $58.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.74% to 1.2974, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8370.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 99.177.
