Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Banking and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 1.61% or 31.50 points to trade at 1985.00 at the close. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) added 1.59% or 96.00 points to end at 6127.00 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) was up 1.37% or 15.00 points to 1109.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which lost 5.59% or 113.00 points to trade at 1910.00 in late trade. Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) declined 3.63% or 105.00 points to end at 2787.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 3.49% or 27.20 points to 752.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1438 to 756 and 161 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.57% or 8.55 to $1517.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.50% or 0.27 to hit $54.77 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $58.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.35% to 1.2076, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.9284.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 97.257.
