Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Aerospace & Defense and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE), which rose 4.67% or 26.78 points to trade at 599.78 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 3.52% or 90.53 points to end at 2662.53 and Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) was up 3.07% or 17.40 points to 584.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT), which lost 3.82% or 16.90 points to trade at 425.60 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 3.52% or 3.78 points to end at 103.62 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 3.31% or 5.35 points to 156.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1234 to 1069 and 88 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.13% or 2.45 to $1864.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $53.22 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $56.05 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.55% to 1.3727, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8853.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 90.153.
