Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 7.13% or 85.00 points to trade at 1276.50 at the close. MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) added 3.86% or 1.02 points to end at 27.45 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 3.64% or 37.50 points to 1066.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 11.37% or 38.60 points to trade at 301.00 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 8.41% or 80.2 points to end at 873.2 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 7.95% or 46.80 points to 542.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1300 to 878 and 144 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.76% or 33.40 to $1930.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.10% or 0.04 to hit $41.33 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.21% or 0.09 to trade at $43.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.70% to 1.2878, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.9123.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.79% at 93.632.
