Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which rose 4.23% or 6.35 points to trade at 156.40 at the close. Provident Financial (LON:PFG) added 3.26% or 20.60 points to end at 652.80 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 2.23% or 12.80 points to 586.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 6.39% or 83.00 points to trade at 1216.00 in late trade. Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA) declined 3.57% or 13.00 points to end at 351.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 3.22% or 36.50 points to 1098.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1222 to 745 and 332 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1302.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.61% or 0.40 to hit $65.55 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.83 to trade at $76.49 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.13% to 1.3405, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8782.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 93.56.
