Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 4.81% or 171.00 points to trade at 3726.00 at the close. Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) added 3.31% or 24.00 points to end at 750.00 and SKY PLC (LON:SKYB) was up 1.56% or 13.00 points to 847.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which lost 2.49% or 15.600 points to trade at 610.100 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) declined 2.21% or 42.50 points to end at 1882.50 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC (LON:RDSa) shed 2.09% or 38.50 points to 1800.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1343 to 831 and 433 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.05% or 14.15 to $1329.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.59% or 1.65 to hit $44.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 3.55% or 1.70 to trade at $46.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.29% to 1.3013, while EUR/GBP fell 0.68% to 0.8613.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 95.46.
