Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 3.73% or 42.00 points to trade at 1169.00 at the close. Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) added 1.70% or 3.00 points to end at 179.90 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 1.47% or 4.15 points to 286.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which lost 5.14% or 35.00 points to trade at 645.50 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 3.35% or 31.50 points to end at 908.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 3.34% or 44.50 points to 1288.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1051 to 924 and 435 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.15% or 14.98 to $1312.48 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.05% or 1.04 to hit $51.70 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.41% or 1.36 to trade at $57.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.50% to 1.3443, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8810.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 92.47.
