Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.38% or 29.20 points to trade at 894.20 at the close. Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) added 2.44% or 1.33 points to end at 55.83 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was up 1.78% or 14.20 points to 809.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which lost 4.26% or 80.00 points to trade at 1798.00 in late trade. Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) declined 4.10% or 123.00 points to end at 2877.00 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) shed 3.01% or 10.30 points to 331.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1231 to 859 and 300 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.12% or 1.50 to $1222.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.28% or 0.16 to hit $56.62 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.43 to trade at $66.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.09% to 1.2847, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8909.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 96.12.
