Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which rose 4.21% or 14.50 points to trade at 358.90 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.37% or 36.00 points to end at 1104.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 2.27% or 38.00 points to 1709.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB), which lost 4.00% or 270.00 points to trade at 6485.00 in late trade. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) declined 1.90% or 2.90 points to end at 149.56 and Merlin Entertainments PLC (LON:MERL) shed 1.84% or 6.00 points to 319.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1153 to 879 and 318 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 0.70 to $1224.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.26% or 0.18 to hit $68.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.35% or 0.28 to trade at $79.50 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.90% to 1.2963, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8841.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 95.81.
