Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 4.05% or 47.00 points to trade at 1207.00 at the close. Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) added 3.82% or 12.50 points to end at 340.00 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.96% or 17.40 points to 606.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 6.98% or 56.00 points to trade at 746.40 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 4.53% or 74.40 points to end at 1568.80 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) shed 3.83% or 93.00 points to 2332.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1027 to 1021 and 324 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.50 to $1223.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 6.81% or 3.72 to hit $50.91 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 6.10% or 3.82 to trade at $58.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.50% to 1.2812, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8846.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 96.835.
