Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Electrical, Industrial Metals & Mining and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were SKY PLC (LON:SKYB), which rose 4.10% or 37.00 points to trade at 940.00 at the close. Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) added 2.40% or 7.20 points to end at 307.30 and GKN PLC (LON:GKN) was up 2.20% or 6.50 points to 302.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU), which lost 4.37% or 36.50 points to trade at 798.00 in late trade. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 3.98% or 23.00 points to end at 555.50 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) shed 2.42% or 52.00 points to 2092.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1086 to 837 and 444 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.92% or 11.70 to $1289.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.30% or 1.27 to hit $56.41 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.12% or 1.30 to trade at $62.66 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.10% to 1.3207, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8930.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 93.61.
