Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Food Producers and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 6.72% or 16.40 points to trade at 260.30 at the close. Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) added 5.40% or 0.69 points to end at 13.47 and Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) was up 3.30% or 0.038 points to 1.188 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which lost 4.18% or 89.0 points to trade at 2042.0 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 2.37% or 2.80 points to end at 115.60 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) shed 2.20% or 5.50 points to 244.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1082 to 865 and 439 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.07% or 1.25 to $1841.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.08% or 0.07 to hit $85.87 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.20 to trade at $88.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.14% to 1.3626, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8312.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 95.620.
